Transforming everyday objects into surreal sculptural landscapes.
This project was really fun because we got to deconstruct [sometimes aggressively] objects and strip them of their identity to create something entirely new. It was also a great learning experience because half of the work was based on being able to manipulate images in photoshop, which is a very helpful skill to have in our field.
Project Statement:
To have peers select three random objects [out of a pool of five we acquired] and deconstruct them from their original identity.
My three objects were an old ceramic doll, a book titled "The Revenge of the Iron Flamingos", and a pink glass vase.
Students then made sketches and sculptural study models out of these objects, and recreated a final physical model with new materials. The new "objects" and models constructed were then placed into contextual, but surreal scenes in photoshop.
