The revitalization and reuse of existing EJ Brown Hall at Alfred State College into the new building for the architecture and design department.
This project was really interesting and exciting because we got to design a project that is actually in motion to take place at our school in a few years. By choosing a real life future project on our campus, not only were we able to experience what taking field observations and existing building analysis is like, but we also got to design our dream version of our academic building, in a feasible manner.
Project Statement:
To analyze and document existing conditions of the current and future buildings housing the department of architecture and design at Alfred State College [SET and EJ Brown Hall], including code compliance inspection, and occupancy analysis. Students will then research an adaptive reuse case study with similar parameters to the renovation. Then, in teams, students will work together and combine their findings to design a final proposal for the rehabilitation of EJ Brown Hall into the new architecture and design building.
For this project, my teammates were Noelle Liseau, Tyler Gage, and Yuya Suzuki.
