Documenting the existing conditions of a historical site in Cuba, New York as a collaborative team project.
10 Mill Street has played an important role in the history of Cuba, New York and the surrounding region.
Once a thriving mill connected to the regional railway, my role on this project was to work with a team of peers to document the current conditions of 10 Mill Street, as it now lies vacant. Using field measurements and critical observation, each student had to come up with a comprehensive summary of the site, including site analysis, documentation of existing built conditions, and a written history of the past. I was then selected as the one student from the class to present the project to the educational board at Alfred, as an example of some of the work we had done in our historical preservation studio.
Project Statement:
To work collaboratively as a team to document existing conditions of historical site, 10 Mill Street in Cuba, NY, and to then individually compile a comprehensive analysis of the site, its current conditions, and its history.
